Spinal decompression is a non surgical, traction based treatment for herniated or bugling discs in the neck or lower back. Anyone who has back, neck, arm or leg pain caused by a degenerated or damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression. These conditions included herniated or bugling discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet syndrome, spondylosis, or even failed spinal surgery.

Spinal decompression has saved many people from spinal surgery. If you are suffering from a disc related condition, don't risk surgery until you have explored safe and effective spinal decompression.

How does Spinal Decompression work?

Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical, traction based treatment for herniated, protruding or bulging discs in the neck and lower back.Once the patient is placed in the correct treatment posture, the computerized traction head applies a pre-programmed pattern of axial distraction in an intermittent fashion of pull-relax-pull. This pattern eliminates muscle guarding and permits decompression to occur at the disc level. The pull force is sufficient enough to create a negative pressure within the disc allowing the protruding or herniated portion to be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc allowing healing to occur.

What to expect during a spinal decompression treatment

Spinal Decompression is performed with the patient lying down in a comfortable position. Depending on the condition the patient is either positioned face up (supine) or face down (prone). A supportive harness is placed around the pelvis and another placed around the torso. The patient is then gently pulled in an intermittent sequence for a period of approximately 15 minutes. The amount of pull varies from patient to patient depending on body weight and the nature and extent of the condition being treated. Spinal Decompression is completely painless. In fact, many patients report feeling relaxed enough during treatment to go to sleep. Additional therapies such as ice and or electrical stimulation are sometimes used before, during or after the treatment depending on individual needs.

How much does spinal decompression cost?

The cost of Spinal Decompression depends on the severity of the condition and the region being treated. Most patients will respond within 20 treatment sessions over a 6 week period for a total cost between $1500.00 and $2000.00. Insurance may cover a portion of these expenses depending on the individual policy. Difficult cases can be more expensive as more office visits are required. It is important to note that the total out of pocket costs for spinal decompression are usually considerably less than the deductibles and or co-insurance payments associated with surgery. We do offer payment options including discounts for pre-paid treatment sessions that our staff will be happy to discuss with you.
